When integrated with the Crestron Home™ platform, Horizon Thermostats act in concert with other smart devices like lighting and shading to ensure optimal comfort, convenience, and energy savings. Unlike other smart thermostats on the market today, the Horizon Thermostat is a design-first device that can react to dynamic routines in response to data from onboard temperature, humidity, and proximity sensors. I'm old fashioned - I still talk to Polycoms over RS232, and I haven't played with direct sockets since the initial release of CUZ 4.0, so I'm not much help. For whatever reason - again if I'm reading correctly - she's getting a lot of extra/repeated data from the codec when she tries connecting with direct sockets. I'm not completely following, but I think the issue at hand is that Martha has had luck talking to the codec using the TCP/IP Client symbol in SIMPL, but is trying to opt for direct sockets - doing everything inside an S+ module and get rid of the requirement for the SIMPL TCP/IP symbol. Use a gather or explicit ClearBuffer(socket.SocketRxBuf) to clear it. The same data if it comes in a piece at a time, ie: If you're not clearing the socket buffer or otherwise removing dataįrom it in your SOCKETRECEIVE event, it may look like you're getting You don't have access to the Crestron partner modules? If you have the software, I'm assuming you do. Maybey it somthing that is better handeld with Has anyone tried to control a codec over IP with simpl+. Maybe the "device" symbol is doing some hardware handshaking. With the TCP/IP Client "device" the codec only responds back once. I open a connection to the codec and the codec string (rx) is sent out repeatedly, between 15 and 25 times. I used the TCP/IP Client Simpl+ Module I found in the files here.

I can do this without simpl+ i just don't want to be beat. I can not open the TCP/IP Client device to see what it might be sending to, I guess, hand shake. I have tried a lot of socketsend's after socketconnect, but even if I socketsend nothing I get the "hi my name is blah blah" 15 times. In simpl+, I set up a socket connect to do the same thing inside the module and I get 15 identical responses. Then a push sends the request for directory and the info is collected and parsed, all good.

At first connect the codec reports its info "hi My name is blah blah" once, 765 characters.

Set it up to send the password and request the directory, feed the rx into a simpl+ module to parse the data.

I am trying to teach myself simple plus by trial and error, mostly error.
